Recently, Osram released 12 new products in the Ostar Projection Power series. It is the first to successfully achieve the brightness of the projector to break the 3000 ANSI lumens mark through LED instead of traditional bulbs, further expanding its LED light source projector market.
Projectors are becoming more and more popular in home entertainment systems, and users have higher and higher expectations for projector products. In addition to the higher resolution, the colors are getting richer and richer, and the contrast and brightness are getting higher and higher. The requirements for the light source depend on the ambient lighting conditions and the distance between the light source and the projection surface. With these 12 new products, Osram can provide 3 different power levels for deep blue (440 nm), blue (456 nm), green (520 nm) and amber (614 nm) RGB solutions.
In the product with the lowest power level, two chips of the same color on each component can provide up to 1500 ANSI lumens of projector brightness. In products with medium power levels, four chips of the same color on each component can achieve brightness of up to 2500 ANSI lumens. In the product with the highest power level, six chips of the same color on each LED can achieve a brightness of more than 3000 ANSI lumens. Therefore, the Osram Ostar Projection Power series products can replace the high-pressure discharge lamps previously used in projectors above 2000 ANSI lumens.
This leap in performance benefits from the improvement of chip and packaging technology. Osram R&D personnel have fundamentally improved each LED chip, making them electrically connected in series on a copper board. Compared with other products of the same power consumption, the Osram Ostar Projection Power series products require lower operating current, lower LED driver complexity, and simpler contact between components, thus providing a better job for system designers. convenient. In addition, this LED can be directly coupled with the heat sink without additional isolation costs. The mechanical design of the new product is basically the same as that of the previous generation, so it can be quickly and easily interchanged with products in the existing projector system.
Wolfgang Schnabel, Product Manager of Visualization and Laser Division of Osram Opto Semiconductors Division, pointed out: “With the Osram Ostar Projection Power series of products, we have successfully broken through the 3000 ANSI lumens barrier using LED technology, and customers can easily integrate new components of the required power level. In the system design, and use the most advanced LED system to replace the traditional light bulb.”
