Barcelona-based 3D printer manufacturer BCN3D has produced 300 3D printed parts to make tourniquets to aid humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.
Tourniquets will be transported to two hospitals in Kriverich and Dnipro to help civilians and soldiers wounded by the war.

BCN3D’s project stemmed from an urgent request from Ukrainian authorities that tourniquets could be produced quickly to support the country’s existing supply of medical equipment.
Authorities demanded the use of 3D printed tourniquets because the technology enables the rapid production of tourniquet parts in the required materials. Using the BCN3D Epsilon Series W50 3D printer, it took just 48 hours to print the four parts that make up the tourniquet, and the company printed a total of 300 pieces.
The 3D printed parts will be provided by BCN3D as a free donation and will be included in the humanitarian aid convoy leaving Barcelona in the coming days. The project is part of a wider initiative supported by around 20 organisations supported by the Ukrainian Consulate in Barcelona and the Barcelona City Council.

Since the outbreak of the Russian war on February 24, 2022, many places have provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and some 3D printing companies are involved in such projects.
For example, 3YOURMIND, Sygnis and TeenCrunch launched the Technological Counter Tanks program to help produce and distribute 3D printed medical, tactical and protective equipment to those in need from 3D printing centers in Germany, Poland and Ukraine.
Elsewhere, open-source medical device developer Glia has launched a call to bring its wound tourniquets to Ukraine to help with the country’s humanitarian crisis, and made design files freely available for local medical workers to download via GitHub.
