Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, FLSmidth is a leading equipment supplier for the mining industry. It is seeking additive manufacturing to help reduce production downtime, which will reduce the company’s losses by up to $3,000 per hour.
“Titomic is proud to work with FLSmidth, the global leader in sustainable productivity in the mining industry, to provide the mining industry with TKF additive manufacturing parts with real economic value,” said Jeff Lang, Managing Director of Titomic.
“Mining industry equipment breakthroughs are time and costly operating background and TITOMIC’s positioning. As a global leader in industrial-scale metal additive manufacturing, it cooperates with FLEMMIDTH to provide next-generation technologies to improve the business interests of its customers.”

As a cold spray manufacturing technology, TKF additive manufacturing can fuse many different metals together in a single part. With this ability, Titomic is able to introduce different high-performance materials.
FLSmidth’s interest in the TKF process lies in particular in the high wear resistance combinations that can be achieved in the parts. First, these companies will conduct production trials on these parts of mining equipment. Through prototyping, Titomic will validate the components of the mining industry.
Once successfully completed, Titomic will use the TKF test trial to negotiate a supply contract with FLSmidth. The company’s order will be provided by TKF Melbourne Bureau.
Commercialization of TKF
TKF is patented by the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), and Titomic is the exclusive owner of the commercialization rights for this process. On the road to commercial use, the company has so far reached a $1.8 million deal with the drone manufacturer TAUV and agreed to manufacture a prototype screw extrusion system for the German international metal parts manufacturer CAPICARD.
The company recently entered the second phase of an agreement with TAUV. It has also obtained two new patents from CSIRO for TKF manufacturing pipelines.
