Introduction: On September 15, 2021, EnvisionTEC and Covestro announced today a collaboration in materials + printer solutions to accelerate the adoption of industrial 3D printing. The two companies are working together to reduce those who want to use 3D printing technology to produce small batches faster and more economically.MouldOr barriers to entry for companies with detailed features. The combination of Covestro’s material expertise and EnvisionTEC printer technology provides a complete industrial manufacturing solution for 3D printed injection molds. So far, there is no solution that can meet the stringent industry requirements for dimensional stability and minimum warpage characteristics. The patented material formula of e-PerFORM TM is optimized for EnvisionTEC’s equipment, bringing the advantages of Somos ® PerFORM to faster and more economical printer technology.
EnvisionTEC CEO Al Siblani
In order to provide customers with feasible and proven material + printer solutions, EnvisionTEC and Covestro optimized the printing parameters and verified Covestro’s new DLP resin e-PerFORM on EnvisionTEC’s Perfactory P4K series printers. EnvisionTEC and major molding institutions further tested the e-PerFORM resin to verify the performance of the material. The completed mold test shows that e-PerFORM resin has high stiffness and high temperature performance, and its performance is similar to that of Somos PerFORM, the stereolithography resin used for injection molds.
The test confirms that it is suitable for rapid mold manufacturing
Tests conducted by Polyvia, the French Federation of Plastics and Composites, confirmed the suitability of rapid processing. Polyvia’s Process Project Manager Guy Chrétien confirmed: “We tested the new e-PerFORM resin printed on the EnvisionTEC P4K printer and proved that we can achieve very good results in terms of part fidelity and injection times for polypropylene and glass molding. -Reinforced nylon. With the cost-effectiveness and printing speed of the P4k platform and the characteristics of the e-PerFORM resin, this creates more opportunities for rapid processing.” Learn more about their testing on Polyvia’s website.
The combined solution of Covestro’s DLP resin e-PerFORM on EnvisionTEC’s Perfactory P4K series DLP 3D printing will be held at RAPID+ in Chicago from September 13th to 15thTCT During the show.
EnvisionTEC CEO Al Siblani commented: “The combination of our P4K printer and Covestro’s e-PerFORM is optimized for our printers to produce injection molds quickly and economically. Our cooperation has created a new and urgent need s solution.”
Hugo da Silva, Head of Additive Manufacturing at Covestro, commented: “Through close cooperation with our partner EnvisionTEC, we have developed a material that meets the key requirements of the market: improved dimensional stability and minimal warpage to obtain Best features. Their P4K printer’s proven and proven solution will help accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing for injection molds.”
