HP announced a partnership with New Balance and Superfeet to further expand its customized3D printingInsole business.Now, some New Balance stores will use solutions provided by HP and its partners to provide personalized3D printinginsole.
Beginning in 2017, HP began to provide insoles that can be tailored to individuals through a foot scanning device called Fitstation developed in cooperation with a company called Volumental. Fitstation can not only capture the contours of the feet, but it is also said to be able to analyze the gait to create a personalized insole design.
The service provider will then use HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology to perform the final design3D printing. The provider is Flowbuilt Manufacturing in Washington. The insole is made of BASF’s thermoplastic polyurethane ULTRASINT, which is intended to provide sufficient flexibility and elasticity for footwear applications.
Although you may have heard of sportswear giant New Balance, Superfeet may not be so familiar to those who do not have sore arches.
