China3D printingNet January 4th, the most extensive and capable multi-material3D printingThe form is PolyStat, which is Stratasys’ unique inkjet process that can dispense various photopolymer inks and then use ultraviolet (UV) for curing. However, Stratasys is not the only one in this field. 3D Systems may be the leading competitor, followed by various smaller companies and startups. Now, Infotech AG, a Swiss company dedicated to automation and manufacturing hardware and software, has entered this field with its own inkjet format.
Infotech was founded in 1984 as a software developer for a Swiss assembly machinery manufacturer. After repositioning in 1999, the company began to focus on manufacturing tools for applications such as automatic fluid distribution and small precision component assembly. These tools come in the form of desktop systems, production units or units in a complete production line.
Based on its IP-500 desktop dispenser, Infotech has developed a system for3D printingVarious liquid materials can be modified to use three different valves: injection valve, time pressure valve and screw distribution system. The resin is then cured under ultraviolet light.
Based on the company’s history as a manufacturer of manufacturing equipment and machine vision, Infotech’s process has some unique features. For example, a camera system connected to a printer makes real-time control possible to ensure accuracy. Non-contact measurement is used to determine the thickness of each layer of resin, which makes it possible to correct the amount of material dispensed as needed.
The dispensing head can also be printed in parallel, so that multiple liquid materials can be used in one build. Other benefits of the Infotech background include the degree of automation of the system, which includes cleaning the needles and nozzles in the system.

The technology has been used with epoxy resins from the adhesive manufacturer DELO, and Infotech allows proper printing quality. The company suggests that since DELO’s materials have similar chemical properties to each other, the technology can achieve proper adhesion between layers. Infotech even stated that the parts exhibit isotropic properties in all directions.
Like other inkjet technologies, this process can produce parts with different transparency and flexibility. Infotech added that parts made of conductive materials can also be used. We have seen this material in some forms of inkjet printing, but not Stratasys’ PolyJet or 3D Systems’ MultiJet.
Infotech sells this technology as a standalone system, but it can also adapt the machine to online distribution units. The system can be combined with external equipment such as injection valves and LED curing lights.
Up to now, Infotech believes that the technology is most suitable for prototyping and small batch production. Its application areas include automobiles and microelectronics. In these areas, DELO materials have been successful in the past due to high temperature resistance and other properties.
China3D printingNet Comments: I am most interested in Infotech’s experience in industrial production and automation (including machine vision). It is not yet possible to assert its new3D printingThe extent to which technology will affect the entire industry, but the company’s3D printingThe potential to play a role in industrialization is great.Knowing that the company has created systems for the production of chips and other electronic products, it is interesting to see if anyone can develop an all-in-one that can produce a complete device3D printingfactory.
Until now, inkjet3D printingThe machines are still impressive, they are still independent units, and are usually used for prototyping. However, as Infotech has developed various production equipment, it is not difficult to imagine that inkjet technology will expand the scale of production. However, one area that needs improvement is the overall physical properties of the resins used. Most inkjet systems use photopolymers that are only suitable for prototypes and cannot withstand long-term wear and tear. Perhaps this is the birth of DELO. Although this is a small but small chemical company, its annual revenue can reach 156 million euros.
