China3D printingNet, August 18, global manufacturing services company Jabil revealed that it intends to build a new excellence in the United States3D printingcenter. In order to create the center, the company plans to invest approximately $42 million to expand the medical facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Build an additive manufacturing center
Although Jabil currently occupies two other locations in New Mexico, the company has only recently established operations in Albuquerque. In September 2018, the company signed a contract to take over the management of 14 medical sites formerly owned by Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices, the company owns3D printingEquipment combination. As a result of this transaction, Jabil currently employs approximately 360 workers in the city and has begun to promote new roles for the factory’s additive manufacturing expansion.
On August 15, Jabil is currently hiring 15 new employees, including material management supervisors, quality technicians and three additive manufacturing engineers. In the next five years, the company expects to create 120 new jobs in the Center of Excellence, a move that is warmly welcomed by the local government. “When we announced hundreds of jobs, it was not just a celebration.” Governer Lujan Grisham added, “It shows that we are doing well.”
In a survey of more than 300 industry stakeholders in 2019, Jabil identified medical device R&D (after prototype design) as the most common3D printingapplication.Especially metals used in medical equipment3D printingIt is expected to benefit the most from the upcoming expansion. The company expects to install approximately $42 million worth of equipment in the facility.

The New Mexico Local Economic Development Act states that it will provide $750,000 in funding to help establish excellent centers. The City of Albuquerque said it will also contribute $250,000 to the project.mayorTim KellerSaid: “We are really trying to make a return on investment calculations. This is a good example for our city.”
