China3D printingNet July 25th, Markforged, headquartered in Massachusetts, was founded by Greg Mark in 2013.3D printingThe industry is developing rapidly, first of all is carbon fiber reinforcement3D printing, And then developed a novel metal3D printingTechnology.
With a series of end-to-end processing systems, Markforged can provide customers with the greatest advantage of additive manufacturing not only through rapid prototyping, but also through rapid manufacturing of high-performance parts. Through the initial investment, industrialists can see substantial savings and have the ability to innovate to eliminate the limitations of old technology. These benefits have attracted the attention of Tecron, a European company known for its manufacturing and engineering services in the automotive industry.
In a recent case study, the Markforged team detailed how the metal additive manufacturing process has improved the production of high-performance parts required for vintage racing cars that Tecron is currently studying.Metal3D printingIt provided an opportunity for Tecron to make a transition, especially in cooperation with one of their most important customers, Škoda Motor, to simplify the production of the original discontinued racing car carburetor.
The cooperation between Tecron and Škoda Motor reflects3D printingOne of the most exciting advantages in the world-provides the ability to create parts that may be outdated and almost impossible to find.We also tracked other projects in automotive and railway applications, and performed3D scanningTo achieve better reconstruction and maintenance.
In the absence of a carburetor design, the original mold used in the traditional die-casting method has long been lost. The Tecron design team not only can afford to replicate the original racing components, but also modified the structure to achieve better optimization.

In another study, the Czech Aerospace Research Center (VZLU) collaborated with Tecron to prototype and test new parts. The engineer’s task was to create a new wing design and faced the challenge of finding an inexpensive method. Prototyping may require extensive (and expensive) measures for aerospace and other applications, and VZLU realizes that it requires different advanced technologies when creating complex models such as its innovative nozzle design.
“Narrow slits in the design improve the overall performance of the wing and are critical to the success of the process. Breaking the design into several more manageable parts can have a negative impact on performance.” Markforged case study points out.
The use of electrical discharge manufacturing (EDM) is another possible option, but it is not cost-effective and is better than metal3D printingIt takes longer. When using Markforged’s Metal X, engineers were able to complete their highly customized designs quickly and economically.
After analyzing more than 100 add use cases, Markforged found that industrial users are concerned about the following:
.
Accessibility
.Design freedom
.Physical strength and durability
.reliability
The data is taken from Markforged’s 2020 Additive Trends report, which also shows that 46% of companies expect to use additive manufacturing in the next two years.
