China3D printingNet September 19, the micro-dispensing and3D printingEquipment manufacturer nScrypt has developed a head changer for its multi-head direct digital manufacturing (DDM) machine. The company’s 5-axis 3Dx-700 system is a gantry-based high-precision platform designed for military customers. This tool allows the machine to seamlessly switch between different tool heads.
“The nScrypt tool changer turns our multi-head machine into a powerful direct digital manufacturing system. It enables users to quickly and directly convert from CAD files to fully functional products, and is equipped with electronic products without the need for manual tool replacement.” nScrypt CEO Dr. Ken Church explained.
“IT load and change tool head as needed. Through Z tracking, the system can also print on any geometric surface at the same time. This system surpasses3D printingDigital production of finished products. “

Micro distribution in nScrypt
nScrypt was established in 2002, focusing on additive manufacturing and micro-dispensing.
Microdispensing involves depositing ink droplets in a volume of less than 1 microliter. This process helps multi-material3D printing, The printing has been incorporated into nScrypt’s hybrid gantry DDM system. Microdistribution also allows the manufacture of smart devices, conformal antennas and microfluidic devices.
The company’s patented SmartPump micro-dispensing tool uses nTip, which nScrypt describes as the smallest commercial tip diameter of 10 microns. It can dispense more than 10,000 commercially available materials with a volume control of up to 20 picoliters. Recently, SmartPump was delivered to an undisclosed electronics manufacturer for use on its factory floor.

Switch between different tool heads
nScrpyt’s DDM technology, also known as the Factory in Tool (FiT) system, combines micro-distribution, material extrusion, micro-milling, and pick-and-place tool heads with multiple cameras for automated hybrid manufacturing.
Using pneumatic ports and pneumatic clamps, the company’s new tool changer can transition between these different tool heads as needed, without the user’s manual input. In addition to the SmartPump for micro-distribution, users can also use nScrypt for3D printingSwitch between the nFD material extrusion head, the nMill tool head for milling and polishing, and the nPnP for picking and placing electronic components.
In addition, the tool changer can run multiple tool heads at the same time, so as to realize the combination of each tool function. For example, using multiple micro-dispensing tool heads can increase throughput, or users can load different heads to achieve functional integration.
