To prove the capabilities of Metal X, the US military recently demonstrated its new Metal X system in a story in the Stars and Stripes. In December, the Third Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) began operating Metal X in its third maintenance battalion at Camp Kincer, one of the most controversial US military bases in Okinawa.3D printingsystem.
The workshop consists of 12 Marines who repair parts of American weapon systems and vehicles for all III MEF units. Then put these “green” parts into the degreasing station, where liquid argon washes away the plastic binder. The now “brown” part is then placed in a furnace, which sinters the metal part for 27 hours to a maximum temperature of 1482°C, forming a solid metal part.
