On November 12, 2019, LulzBot is open sourced3D printingMachine manufacturer Aleph Objects announced that all of its assets have been acquired by Fargo Additive Manufacturing Equipment 3D (FAME 3D). Headquartered in North Dakota, FAME 3D is a limited liability company established by venture capitalists to purchase Aleph Objects assets. In a statement issued on Friday, November 8, Grant Flaharty, CEO of Aleph Objects and currently acting CEO of FAME 3D, said:
“Lulzbot is the desktop3D printingOne of the core leaders of the industry. It is an organization full of smart, innovative talents and solutions that is changing the manufacturing and medical industries. We will not stand by and watch that kind of innovation cannot be realized. “
Last month, 91 of LulzBot’s 113 employees were fired. Since then, the publication Loveland Reporter-Herald reported that former employee Zachary Hergenreder filed a class-action lawsuit against the company because the company failed to notify its workers before dismissal.
Aleph Objects stated in the statement: “FAME 3D will continue to provide open source code for its customer products and now has solid financial support.[Aleph Objects]Can continue to carry out cutting-edge innovations and provide high-quality3D printingMachine and industry-leading solutions. “
As part of the agreement with Aleph Objects, LulzBot will refocus on customer support and response to customer feedback to improve its current and future products.
Regarding the acquisition, Jeff Moe, who founded Aleph Objects in January 2011, told Loveland Reporter-Herald, “I will help with the transition before the end of the year. I am very happy that we have found a good buyer. Moe now plans to add more Focus on his computer security startup Fork Sand Inc., which was founded two years ago.”
