Started off bad but much better now
I had a problem where the bed I originally got was not very flat but I contacted Creality and they sent me a replacement. It is much flatter than the last giving me a near perfect bed level in total. I find it much better to use silicone thermal pads to adhere it to the bed. It will stick well but can be pulled off still, doesn’t use up space like the clips, and gives better thermal transfer. It now grips great though I seem to require an extra 5c on my bed temps just to overcome the extra mass and the y axis has a little more weight on it too. I really enjoy the flat bottom it gives my print while still sticking well though with PETG I use glue first. If you want easy release get the magnetic bed, if you want higher temp materials or have a warped bed get this. Works amazingly well.
Worthwhile upgrade.
I got this to deal with the tendency of the original ENDER 3 build surface being warped, inconsistent and difficult to get trammed properly. After fighting with that original surface, I am now having to “Relearn” printing on this printer. The surface is FLAT and if you follow the instructions about allowing the prints to cool before trying to remove, the prints pop right off. This is some of the best money that I have spent. The prints come off the build surface “smooth as glass”! It is true that you must be much more careful as this surface is unforgiving of being rammed by the print head or ravaged by the scraper. It is very important to allow the print time to cool, it comes off the surface without a problem (so far).
Showed me how un-level the original plate was
fits like a dream, have four small heavy duty paper clips holding it down. Adhesion was a problem so I now use a glue stick , the small purple ones from Staples, and havent had a single adhesion issue since then. I probably could mess with my bed temps but right now the glue stick is working like a dream. Also I use the Spray Way glass cleaner to wash it after each print and have noticed that if I spray the bottom of a finished print and let it sit for about 10 minutes or so the SprayWay eats at the glue and the print pushes right off the build plate. This doesn’t always work so I use a small razor to pry underneath but 70% of the time it does. I leave the glass bed on when removing all my prints. This bed also showed me how warped my original bed was. I didn’t believe all the complaints about the factory bed, I figured most of them were people who wouldn’t do the work to properly level or didn’t know how to
Awesome Glass Bed!
I purchased this to see how adhesion to plain glass was, instead of the anycubic glass, which left the pattern on the bottom of the prints and wanted to print raspberry pi cases that looked shiny, this has been working amazing! It’s really easy to use and clean. I consider this to be great value for the money, as the flexible sheets sometimes are hard to get the prints off. Everything sticks like glue and comes right off when it’s cool. Highly recommend it!
Great adhesion, I’d call it Zero Failure Glass
The surface is not “textured” like the magnetic build surfaces available. Instead it is a painted on coating (so yes it scratches off if you are not careful with your blade). That being said, you will not need a blade. Period. Let the plate cool after printing, as you are supposed to do anyway, and viola! the part practically releases itself! I have had ZERO failures due to adhesion problems since I placed this on the heated bed. I run the bed temp around 65* C So yes, Creality 3D needs to rename this as “Zero Failure Glass” This is the best surface I have printed on…ever. Period.
High quality replacement for original plate.
I bought this build plate is a replacement for the original flexible plate that was damaged by the hot-end during leveling. (rookie mistake).
This plate is perfectly flat and I have attached it with binder clips.
The plate is coated with black dots which I suppose assist with adhesion, but I have only used the plate with a covering of painter’s tape. Prints are adhering firmly using 60c bed heat with PLA.
